A temperature control unit holds a process at a set temperature rather than simply removing heat from it. MEPA supplies units for precision temperature control in plastics processing, the production of pharmaceutical materials and aluminium die-casting.
Two families cover the range. Water thermoregulators are available up to 180 °C. Diathermic (thermal oil) units extend this to 350 °C, where water is no longer a practical medium. Both come with one or more operating zones, so a single unit can hold different sections of a mould or process at different temperatures.
Cooling is handled directly, injecting water from an external cooling system into the circuit, or indirectly through a heat exchanger. Indirect cooling keeps the process circuit closed and separate from the plant water, which protects the mould circuit from whatever the site supply carries with it — usually the right answer where water quality is poor or the process fluid is oil.
